The folks at Fabulous Cat Papers in Athens, Georgia have put together an incredible collection of hand embroidered notebooks featuring a bunch of beautiful designs. The classic anatomical illustrations really come to life with the addition of red and blue (arteries and veins, respectively) thread accents.
“Outbreak” is a series of incredibly detailed paper sculptures by Rogan Brown. The interconnected amalgam of cells and pathogens took about 4 months of tedious work to complete. buy lipitor online https://nouvita.co.uk/wp-content/languages/en/lipitor.html no prescription
Rogan discusses a bit of the process here:
“I want to communicate my fascination with the immense complexity and intricacy of natural forms and this is why the process behind my work is so important. Each sculpture is hugely time consuming and labour-intensive and this work is an essential element not only in the construction but also in the meaning of each piece. The finished artifact is really only the ghostly fossilized vestige of this slow, long process of realization. buy finasteride online https://nouvita.co.uk/wp-content/languages/en/finasteride.html no prescription
I have chosen paper as a medium because it captures perfectly that mixture of delicacy and durability that for me characterizes the natural world.”
I would most certainly be driven mad after one day trying to craft the paper into such delicate patterns. This brings to mind a Calvin Coolidge quote I would like to share:
“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.”

Cris Wiegandt is one of our favorite up-and-coming artists. She constructed the incredible Paper Space Shuttle & Paper Darth Vader Mask, and now she has created a Showreel of all of her work:
A special sort of whimsy permeates through the collection. Of course, I am a bit partial to the space-related paper crafts, but I truly enjoy the whole lot.
And here’s a GIF of the Paper Space Shuttle I put together from the video. It would say it’s a graphic metaphor for her career in art. Enjoy!
Lisa Nilsson has returned for an encore in Paper Anatomy made from the extremely tedious process of Quilling. I wrote about her work in the past, and here’s an excerpt:
“She created these masterpieces by meticulously rolling and shaping narrow strips of Japanese mulberry paper in a technique called paper filigree or quilling. As you can imagine, each section takes several weeks to complete.”
This time around she features a canine cut right down the middle. An interesting note from Lisa’s site is that “The peach-colored shape located where the brain meets the sinuses is the olfactory bulb. This structure is forty times bigger in dogs than in us and enables dogs to sense smell to a degree one hundred thousand to one million times greater than humans.”
The second image is a sagittal view of an angel with an ornate circular background. It was apparently inspired by Fra Angelico’s AnnunciatoryAngel (seen below).
And I bet you can’t guess what the last 2 images represent… Praying Hands. The section passes through the large knuckles at the bases of the thumbs. buy intagra online https://apwh.org/wp-content/languages/en/intagra.html no prescription
The uber-talented Cris Wiegandt is at it again. She recently made this replica Darth Vader helmet out of paper for the Swedish fashion label, Monki. In case you didn’t catch it, we interviewed Cris back in January after stumbling across her amazing Paper Space Shuttle, and I think she created an equally successful project this time around. Her colors were picked perfectly, and I especially like the depiction of the whale. WELL DONE, Cris.
And she also made a short stop-motion video of the construction process featuring music from Wallenberg:
Be sure to head over to Cris’ Behance page and take a look at all that she’s been up to. I can’t wait to see what she produces next…
