Wear a Helmet!

October 22nd, 2011 | Space

Not that the helmet will help much, but it may make you feel better about  the falling German satellite, ROSAT, that is supposed to strike Earth sometime tomorrow.  The German Space Agency is putting the chances at one in 2,000 that someone will be struck by a piece of ROSAT, but only 1 in 14 trillion that that person will be you!  So, not too much to worry about here.

ROSAT is a now defunct X-ray telescope that was launched in 1990 and found roughly 110,000 stars, supernovas and cosmic rays during its time in space.
