March 11th, 2012 | Space

Welcome to the Launch of RobotSpaceBrain’s Official Wallpapers!  I created this space-inspired cassette the other day, and I decided to share with you wonderful people.

You should be able to load it on your computer, iPhones, or iPads without problems, but let me know if something doesn’t work just right.

I hope to add some moon music to go along with the design at some point in the future, so be on the look out for that.

Many Moons Embroidery

March 7th, 2012 | Space

Shaun Kardinal, based out of Seattle, Washington, is responsible for these fantastic embroidered Apollo images. He used photographs from an old Hasselblad catalog filled with astronauts from the late 1960’s missions that he had found in old antique store in his neighborhood.  From Kardinal:

I felt an immediate draw. Surely my love of Hasselblad’s cameras contributed to this, but there was a certain nostalgia I felt as well, even though I was born long after the events captured.

I knew for certain that I had to take it home with me, that I would find a purpose for it within my work.

That last image is of a Death Star if you didn’t notice…

I sure would love to find a magazine like that in an old store sometime.  And what Kardinal has done with the classic images is extraordinary.

For more images of the Apollo missions from Hasselblad, here is an online catalog.

Moon Games

January 16th, 2012 | Space

Laurent Laveder is the landscape astrophotographer and astronomy journalist who is responsible for these great moon photos.  They have been published in a small book in France, found here. Laurent took these pictures on a beach near his home in France with the help of his girlfriend, Sabine (seen in several of the photos).

Check out his website for more of his photography and other moon shots.

Enjoy!

10 Moons

January 9th, 2012 | Space

Saturn’s Rhea

Jupiter’s Europa

Jupiter’s Callisto

Jupiter’s Io

Earth’s Moon Transiting The Sun

Saturn’s Mimas – aka Death Star

Mars’ Phobos

Neptune’s Triton

Uranus’ Oberon

Jupiter’s Ganymede

Check out this collection of spectacular moon photos I saw on the Mother Nature Network, and learn a bit about our solar system in the process.  A lot of the photos have different filters to make them look extra special, but they are interesting nonetheless.  I thought it would be cool to learn all of the moons of the solar system, but I found out there are more than 170, so that could be quite challenging.  Did you know Jupiter, alone, has 63 moons!?

Psychedelic Moon

December 7th, 2011 | Space

The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) has given us the highest resolution images of our great pie in the sky since it launched in 2009, and the image above is no exception.  Apparently, a global map of the moon’s topography at high resolution has not existed until now.
